Health & Safety at School

We view the health and safety of all those who work, learn and visit the academy as one of our main priorities. While each one of the five Every Child Matters outcomes is very important to us (Be Healthy, Stay Safe, Enjoy and Achieve, Make a Positive Contribution, Achieve Economic Wellbeing), it is the health and safety of all who work and learn here which is paramount and which must underpin all we do on every occasion.

Students’ health and safety must be secure at all times. The academy will address its priorities to improve student progress, attainment and attendance against a backdrop which provides safety and security for students, staff, parents/guardians and visitors.

We also place the safety and health of students when they are offsite, either locally or on foreign visits, as a top priority. To that end, all excursions, exchanges and visits will be pre-inspected to establish suitability for the proposed activity and to undertake full risk assessments. Staffing levels will be enhanced beyond national guidelines levels whenever a trip is viewed to be a higher risk.

Our comprehensive Off-site Activities and Educational Visits Policy is available for parents to view or it can be forwarded to parents on request. The policy covers all areas such as first aid, protection of children, supervision, provision for children with special educational needs, transport, parental consent and communications, all of which will be important considerations in all visits.
